Hi Smiley
This is the first I've heard that a phone other than one in Straight Talk packaging would work on Straight Talk service. I guess if they say it will work, then go for it. But I have no idea whether all the Blackberry services will work.

I'd also strongly encourage you to get it in writing (or at least email) from Straight Talk before you buy that Blackberry. If it turns out not to work, at least you should be able to resell the Blackberry. And you'll also be out the cost of the month of service, but if you have documentation of ST telling you it would work, you could at least have a chance at forcing them to refund that monthly cost as well.

Whatever happens, please do drop by again and let me know how it goes. I'd be very happy to hear about it.

Hi Dallas
The mp3 player is hte same as on the r451c or t401g. A bit of a disappointment, really. As far as the alphabetical playlist, the sort is done by the file name, I believe. So you could use windows explorer to add a number to the front of each file name and thus manually sort the files. But that's a pain in the butt.
You can sort by album, artist, and playlist (but not genre), but again they'll be subject to the alpha sort within the category you selected.

What about the MP3 Player? How is the sound quality through the internal speaker, headphones and Bluetooth?
Does it play the songs in the same order as they are on the Albums or does it play them alphabetically like the t401g an r415c?
Can you play them by Artist, Album, Genre?

I have a question. How does the signal reception between the samsung 810 compare to the samsung 451 ? Also are you able to install apps ? I have been unsuccessful at installing apps on my 451 (ie explorers, and games).

I am sure the price will come down eventually, but how long that will take is anybody's guess. This phone is so much more expensive than previous TracFone/Net10 models that it's really hard to guess, but just for comparison the LG 600g and Motorola w376g started out at, I believe, $80 and $60 respectively in the spring/summer of 2008, and are now selling for $20 on TracFone's site. I doubt we'll see a 75% price cut on this model in the next year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it for sale around $200 by this time next year. Of course, only time will tell.

Omar, you caught me. I was mistaken about the slide-out QWERTY. I think that I had been researching other similar models (i.e. Samsung r8XX models), and came across one that had a physical keyboard. I guess I just got confused on that part of it.

In one of your initial post regarding the Samsung r810C, you stated that along with it being a touchscreen phone it also had a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Is this true? I thought that it only had a virtual on screen keyboard that you used by touching the keys on the screen. Thanks.

Hi arn,
I don't know why Straight Talk would want to mislead customers like that, but you CAN transfer contact lists to many of their phones using bluetooth. I tested it out recently and it was pretty slick - it worked on the Samsung r451c, the LG 220c, and the LG 290c. I would be shocked if the r810 does NOT also support that functionality. Here's where I posted about the contact transfers:
